Vanessa is an urban sketcher and practising architect based in Hong Kong. Her architectural background has shaped her keen eye for detail, composition, and spatial storytelling. Since discovering Urban Sketching in 2014, she has carried her sketchbook wherever she goes, using it as a personal journal to document the world around her.
Living in a city known for its fast-paced energy, Vanessa is inspired by Hong Kong’s ever-changing environment to slow down and savour its everyday beauty. She is particularly drawn to capturing her meals, local eateries, bustling streets, specialty stores and disappearing architecture that she passes by in her daily life. Beyond Hong Kong, her travels have become an extension of this practice, where she documents her journeys through food sketches and travel journals. These sketchbooks serve as visual diaries, preserving the atmosphere, culture, and emotions of each place she visits.
Working primarily in ink and watercolour, Vanessa is known for her expressive lines and vibrant palettes. Through her art, she celebrates the connection between place, memory, and the beauty found in daily life, both at home and during her travels.
